2020 Ford Ranger FX4 Arriving in December
Ford's popular limited-edition dual-cab will return for the 2020 model year, initially capped at 1000 units.
The Ranger FX4 special edition will return as part of the MY20 range in December.
Slotting between the XLT 4x4 and Wildtrak 4x4 variants, the FX4 will be limited to 1000 units, and receives a range of cosmetic and trim upgrades inside and out.
Externally, the FX4 can be distinguished by its darkened bi-LED headlights, Ebony Black mesh front grille, model-specific 18-inch alloy wheels, 3D effect decals for the front door and tailgate, a black extended sports bar, along with Ebony Black finish for the exterior mirrors door/tailgate handles, and fender 'features'.
Inside, there's special leather-accented seats with Race Red stitching and embossed FX4 logos, FX4 carpet mats for the front and second rows, soft-touch dash panel, Tinted Graphite accents on the instrument panel and door trims, and Race Red stitching for the instrument panel, steering wheel, gear selector and centre console.
Beyond the special appointments, the FX4 carries over the specification of the XLT, meaning there's an 8.0-inch Sync 3 infotainment system with navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear-view camera, autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping aid, traffic sign recognition, and automatic high-beam.
The optional Tech Pack adds adaptive cruise control and semi-automatic parallel parking functions.
Under the bonnet, the Ranger FX4 will be available with the choice of a 157kW/500Nm 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel and 147kW/470Nm 3.2-litre five-cylinder turbo-diesel.
Both powertrains offer a 3500kg maximum towing capacity, though various transmissions are available depending on powerplant. The 2.0-litre bi-turbo is mated exclusively to a 10-speed automatic, while the 3.2-litre oiler is offered with both a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
